Why Multicrop, Regenerative Agriculture and Rotational Grazing Are Better Than Industrial Monocrop

A scientific article finally acknowledges that mixed cultures lead to a greater yield. This is how plants actually grow in nature. Add elements of regenerative agriculture through the addition of animals and natural water irrigation and you might have a solid chance at growing enough healthy food for everyone without compromising their health or reducing the population size.

Planting only one crop a time has significant disadvantages that have deleterious effects upon human health. Including exposure to grain and bread in general, which are comparatively low in nutrition, and cause more inflammation and pain then a wider diet of low glycemic carbohydrates, fresh vegetables and meat.

All health effects aside – mono-crop agriculture still has a negative effect on the environment. Through planting only one crop in some areas and allow heavy grazing in others, the soil is leached of it’s natural bio-diverse profile of mibrobrial and insect life. Thus eventually resulting in infertility of the landscape.

These subtle lifeforms play an important role in keeping the soil healthy by recycling it’s ingredients. The natural fertilizer that arises from a rotational grazing approach to animal husbandry and multi-crop agriculture enhance the microbial life enough to keep soil healthy while also not over over-grazing to the point of infertility.

Industrialized monocrop agriculture is dangerous in other ways. The presence of only one crop across a wider landscape has a tendency to attract various forms of insect pests that we have had to use chemical pesticides for. Don’t forget that the reason it is called “regenerative” because it can also reverse the damage done by industrialized mono-crop agriculture. By starting with natural water irrigation, austere forms of plant life and animal life, you can work your way up to a higher yield and even regenerate certain desert regions. Alternative agricultural techniques such as monocrop agriculture, regenerative agriculture and rotational grazing could help regenerate our ecosystem and improve the local economy.

Now imagine if we integrated these simple techniques with cold plasma technology for protecting aging produce from decay. A compatible combination of ancient and futuristic.

I’d like to call this “Agriculture 2.0” but the name is already taken by automatic tractors power by the internet of things so I think “Alternative Agriculture” might be a little more suitable.
